ricco67
Just happened to be driving by and I spotted a huge crane behind (I think) the Men's Club or the Marriott Garden Inn. Bechtel Tower. I couldn't quite tell what it was doing there aside from just quietly sitting there.
sevfiv
Could the site have a Hidalgo address? (and I'm just waiting for some really bad jokes involving strippers and "spotting huge cranes" )
ricco67
Could the site have a Hidalgo address? (and I'm just waiting for some really bad jokes involving strippers and "spotting huge cranes" ) Its quite possible that it could have that streets address, but its hard to say for sure. The fact that its involved in the erection of some sort of structure behind there would be a bit funny. Happy?
ArchFan
Turns out it's a parking garage. Unless the other structures abutting it were torn down, the only access would be from the Hilton Inn parking lot. So ... my guess is it's additional parking for the Inn.Are people aware that The Mens Club used to be a bowling alley? Some buildings in Houston actually do get converted to other uses instead of being torn down!

ChannelTwoNews
July 2022 https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Engineering-giant-Bechtel-to-move-Houston-offices-17295625.php#photo-22686089 "The project management, construction and engineering firm recently signed a 205,000 square-foot office lease in Parkway Property’s CityWestPlace campus in Building 3, according to CBRE, which represented Bechtel in lease negotiations. Bechtel’s new digs are about half the size of its 440,00 square-foot office space in Houston, according to real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield. The move comes after Bechtel earlier this year implemented a hybrid workplace policy allowing some employees to work remotely at least part of the time and commute to the office based on teams’ individual needs." The loan for 3000 Post Oak Blvd. is scheduled to mature March 1, 2025. However, because Bechtel currently occupies 99% of the building, the building's $80 million mortgage has been added to a loan servicer "watchlist" amid concerns over the loan's repayment once the building's anchor tenant leaves."

hindesky
Bechtel signed a lease in 2022 to downsize and move to CityWestPlace in Westchase. Its lease at 3000 Post Oak Blvd., a 19-story office building just south of The Galleria, expired in July, according to Morningstar. Bechtel had occupied 99% of 3000 Post Oak Blvd. for four decades before that. The company hosted a grand opening in March for its new office at Building 3 in CityWestPlace, which is about 205K SF, less than half of the 440K SF it occupied at 3000 Post Oak Blvd. Ownership of the building is tied to Connecticut-based Five Miles Capital Partners and Korea-based AIP Asset Management, according to the HBJ and TRD. The property was also carrying $20M worth of mezzanine debt, Morningstar data shows. The building owner has retained architecture firms to assist in evaluating future options for the building, but it expects to default on loan payments due to Bechtel’s departure, according to servicer commentary. https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/office/80m-loan-on-post-oak-office-building-moves-to-special-servicing-126039
