brunsonpark08
The Houston Press is reporting the Laff Stop is now closed. The Laff Stop was the premire comedy club in Houston, which used to be located on West Gray and moved to Waugh a few years ago. I had the fortune of catching Mitch Hedberg there a few times. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2009/12/laff_stop_houston_closed.php#more
Fringe
What a shame if that's true. Haven't been there in years but I have lots of fond memories of the place.
Porchman
Sad. Mrs. P. and I used to do the early show every New Years Eve.I think one of their big challenges was that many more top bills were coming in on the Improv circuit.
editor
That's a shame. The wife and I always wanted to go there, but just never got around to it. I guess it's that sort of attitude that makes places like this go away.
plumber2
I never went in the past because of all the smokers. Of course that changed with the new COH smoking ban, but by then I had lost interest. That's a shame though.
Sunstar
I saw Lewis Black there back when it was on West Grey. I also took a defensive driving class there once and years later saw my instructor doing stand up on a Dane Cook special on Comedy Central. I'm sad to see it go. Original Timmy Chan's
I had the fortune of catching Mitch Hedberg there a few times. I saw Mitch Hedberg a couple of times there in the early 90's...at least once with Jimmy Pineapple.I'm as guilty as the Editor...I haven't seen a comedy show in years (nearly *decades* now)
EMME
So sad. I worked at the Laff Stop from 1982 - 1987, half in Houston, and half in Austin. Lots of great memories.
