editor
It's been very busy for the last week or so. Lots of equipment in a very small space.
rechlin
They've added a temporary support structure to hold up some new I-beams in the basement level. They also extend into the tunnel area: And the construction elevator is now almost to the top: 4
Highrise Tower
Yesterday I took a walk and stopped by to check the status of the construction. Looks like the construction elevator is about to be jumped higher. Are the windows really being pulled? Looks like there's only a handful left. Very cool old windows. 4

ATH
Those beautiful old projection windows defined the facade. It would be wonderful if they could be replicated but that would be awfully expensive.

hindesky
The JW Marriott Houston Downtown Expansion is an adaptive reuse of the historic, 10-story Battlestein’s Building built in 1950. It is adjacent to the existing JW Marriott Houston Downtown, an adaptive reuse of the historic Samuel F. Carter Building built in 1910. Arch-Con’s scope of work includes a 72,382-square-foot building conversion to add 56 rooms as well as the demolition and renovation of the storefront, entry vestibule, elevators, ballroom and restrooms on the first floor and meeting rooms on the second floor. Designed by MCS Architects LLC, project highlights include ribbon windows and a rooftop penthouse, bar and pool. https://www.arch-con.com/divisions/hospitality/jw-marriott-houston-downtown-expansion/ 6

Turtlesmiles
Stayed down at the JW this weekend. Was surprised to learn on the good ol HAIF that the work is for expansion. There were workers every day at the site. They came early morning and worked all day, though not sure what on. There wasn’t any noise associated but seems weekend work was in order! Didn’t take any pics, sorry! 3
