IronTiger
Hello!A nanobrewery is opening in College Station, and I wanted to know if nano/microbreweries can sell beer directly to the public in Texas. I know St. Arnold's didn't, but was that a Texas law or a Houston ordinance?
kylejack
No, you can only sell to places with a liquor license. If you sell more than a certain amount, you need to go through a distributor or create a distributor. I want to say it was like 500 kegs but I could be way off. Please note that there are many many ridiculous rules they will have to follow to do this. If their beer is >4% ABV it must be labeled as ale, and <4% ABV is labeled as lager. Many beers can't be sold in Texas without printing up new labels, because Texas has this ridiculous rule in place. Texas regulators do not care that those are not the definitions for ale and lager.
