LTAWACS
Awesome! I was just wondering about this as my post on another hotel across 59 was apparently deleted.Good news that this is moving forward.
por favor gracias
I wish they could have sped it up by a few months when the Final Four will be in town, but it should be very nice when it opens.
H-Town Man
Ground breaking is scheduled for April 11, 2014. Opening slated for June 2016. So Hines 609 in March, Hotel Rida in April. This will be a pivotal two months for downtown. If come April 30th or so both these things are rising, I will smoke a cigar.

Houston19514
Thanks for the link. Kinda weird that the description ("3 level podium and 22-level room tower") does not match the rendering (5-level podium and approximately 24-level room tower).

Kinda weird that the description ("3 level podium and 22-level room tower") does not match the rendering (5-level podium and approximately 24-level room tower). In the grand tradition of Houston, yet another scaled back project
cloud713
... I hope they are wrong. Not sure how you can reduce a hotel almost 10% but still retain 1,000 rooms. If the reduction is true, next thing you know they will axe the top off a la Embassy Suites.. :/ Edited January 12, 2014 by cloud713
Houston19514
^ I think they are wrong. Pretty embarrassing for Morris. But if things don't work out at Morris for the author of that piece, they are eminently qualified for a reporting job at the Chronicle. ClutchCity
Is it still going to have the rooftop pool depicted in this bisnow? talltexan83
A bit off topic, but I still have some hotel envy for Dallas (and this is coming from a die-hard Houstonian). I think we could more than justify some new 5* hotels downtown, especially with the hotel & residences model that is so popular these days. Ritz Carlton, Waldorf, Fairmount.......bring it! bobruss
Thats a good question for Bob Eury. He would know where we stand at luring one of those for the convention center area.
cloud713
rumor is Ritz is actively looking around the area for a hotel/residences.. forgot where that was posted though...
