Specwriter
A few years ago local architect Karen Lantz bought a 1950's ranch style house and deconstructed it so she could build a new house for her family on the site. Here is the Swamplot article that ran then: http://swamplot.com/the-slowest-demo-in-town-karen-lantz-pulls-a-house-apart/2009-10-06/ . I attended a talk she gave on the experience - the pitfalls and lessons learned as well as the resources saved and actual money realized from the effort. If anyone is considering doing something similar I congratulate you and urge you to attend the seminar this evening at the GBRC if possible. You may be surprised at how much reusable material can be salvaged from even a small house.
