This lot is kind of the odd one out in the area now, especially since you have a bunch of high end residential and office towers directly next to it. Once they throw it up the area will feel more complete.

The very ugly Chronicle garage was knocked down and nearby a less hideous but still ugly garage took its place. Improvement of sorts. Just hope you all are correct and a building is placed there and the garage appearance is ameliorated somehow. It will then look more complete and more pleasing. There's a ground-floor retail space available on the Travis side of the parking garage. This is likely a small theater for comedy shows and improv.

Drunk Shakespeare opened this week at the Emerald Theatre. The theater is located at 412 Travis St in One Market Square. There were casting calls for the Houston production of Drunk Shakespeare last fall. The listing noted the following about the Emerald Theatre: "The company (Brass Jar Productions) operates in the heart of Downtown Houston in a new performance venue, “The Emerald Theatre,” featuring a hidden library speakeasy installation." IntheKnowHouston
A post pertaining to 414 Travis St, located on the ground level of One Market Square. One Market Square is located at 800 Preston St. The below post is from the the general topic about restaurants and bars in downtown Houston. The post itself is about The Lucky Italian, a coffee shop and cafe located at 414 Travis St. https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/31454-downtown-restaurant-and-bar-market/?do=findComment&comment=658631 On 7/9/2022 at 1:57 PM, editor said: I stopped into the new coffee shop/bar on Travis Street, across from Frank's Pizza today. It's called The Lucky Italian, and is owned by the same people who own The Italian Job across the street. Very good coffee, but this location is leaning heavily on the bar/nosh scene for revenue. Still, I'm happy to have another place to buy beans downtown. There's a couple of pastry cases, but the offerings are meager, which is fine since the guy behind the bar (I think he's the owner) says they only opened yesterday. He says it opens at 6am Monday through Friday, and 7am Saturday and Sunday. I thanked him for being open on weekends, because I won't patronize a restaurant that only exists to feed the commuters, and has no interest in contributing to the community.† (*cough* Finn Hall *cough*) It's a much larger space than the old one, and a dining room goes through from Travis Street to Prairie Street. He says they're going to do lunch and sammitches and small plates for dinner. There's also a smattering of outdoor seating for the world's last smokers. On a side note, I noticed that Day Six is now flogging the fact that it's open at 6am. I guess that's a change? I don't know. It's also promoting catering, which is not a bad idea now that there are almost 12,000 more office workers downtown than there were last year. †: One exception: Chick-fil-a, because I dig that it gives all of its employees a day of rest.
