Houston19514
That is correct. I had sort of assumed that they would rebuild the tunnel through the Gibraltar Savings parcel to reconnect to the garage and Magnolia Hotel. Why would either party (Texaco building apartments or Magnolia Hotel) would be interested in paying for a tunnel connection between the two? H-Town Man
Windows... Can someone who is familiar with the multi-family industry explain to me why an historical apartment building wouldn't have windows that open? I don't mean to argue, I'm just genuinely curious. I don't mean to argue, I'm just genuinely curious. They actually pivot open from a point in the center, unless they did something to seal them off recently I can't recall if I've seen them open in the last few months, but I took a picture some time ago. cspwal
That seems like a good way to make it look like a garfield window cling is climbing up the building
Nate99
It looked like they might be finishing out some units on that corner. I swear I saw some blinds hung up.

cspwal
Is the hole shallower? Or is that an optical illusion with the new dirt?
Nate99
Is the hole shallower? Or is that an optical illusion with the new dirt? It looks like they are leveling it out, but its certainly no shallower. They are still chipping away around the edges on old foundations that were uncovered as they dug. Popular Post Nate99
They're taking out the "catwalk" that they built on the Fannin side and have a fence up on the Capitol side immediately behind the train platform now. Other structure going up in the hole too.
adr
New windows look great, and there are definitely already blinds in some of them (spilled coffee all over self getting this shot). Still working on excavating the hole.

cloud713
Is it just me or do those renderings show the pool area right where the potential tower was supposed to go..?
Urbannizer
Nice find. @Cloud the pool only takes up a small portion of the roof, looks to be facing Fannin St.
cloud713
True, I was just always under the impression the planned tower was going on the edge of the garage roof, on that side. Maybe they will reinforce the spot just east of the pool so the tower overlooks the pool area?
Urbannizer
Dug up this, site plan on page 9 shows the tower will be placed next to the pool area. http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/Commissions/docs_pdfs/hahc/Application_Materials/December_MATERIALS/1111_Rusk_MATERIALS.pdf
