Subdude
It seems odd seeing the Texaco building with interior lighting.
H-Town Man
There was a book on Houston, mostly photos, published in the 1930's, I want to say 1936 for the centennial. Large format book, black and white photos. One of these photos was of a small girl in a dress inside the arched walkway of the Texaco building. She's skipping, if I remember correctly. It is a great photo. I cannot remember the name or author of the book. Does anyone have a guess?

rechlin
Not even close to open. Here's a photo of it as it stands now. It's still being actively built, just very very slowly:

Nole23
I keep forgetting about this thing. Maybe it'll be open in time for the next Super Bowl...
EllenOlenska
It's a stunning building in the very heart of the city. That garage, though, is...flimsy looking.

UtterlyUrban
The garage looks like it may take a while. I wonder when the estimate of move-ins will be? The Tex-ah-so-slow may not lease well without a place to park. i did look at the apartment images on HAR, the kitchens are nice.
hindesky
I saw a valet service booth on Rusk, so people must have moved in. Prices are sky high on HAR for the apartments.

downtownian
The Star is officially open. First tenants moved in last month. "Units are between about 730 to 1,730 square feet. There are 207 one-bedroom, one-bath units and 79 two-bedroom, two-bath units. The building's first tenants moved in late last month." http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2017/02/14/photos-luxury-downtown-apartment-debuts-in-former.html
Nole23
Awesome. I figured people started moving in. I wonder if they are just using the parking garage across the street at Le Meridien until theirs is complete.
lockmat
The first floor interior of the southwest corner of the building is finished. Very sleek inside. The first floor eastern side is still under construction.

Popular Post rechlin
This rendering from the HBJ article is a bit peculiar, because looking at the roof, there's no evidence that anything like this will be built: How it is right now:
KinkaidAlum
My guess is they still plan on building that but they can get their certificate of occupancy first and start bringing in some cash flow via rent. If you look closely, that's just a raised deck, a few pillars, a small roof, and some trellises. That can be built last.

UtterlyUrban
In the post WWII years there have been certain projects that seemingly never end: 1) construction on I-45 south 2) northern expansion of the "Woodlands" which is now actually a suburb of Dallas, and 2) this renovation, especially the garage.
bobruss
I drove by this project yesterday and I'm pretty sure there were leasing signs and move in looked like it was about to happen.
