infinite_jim
I'm actually really happy that they are having to build around the old mansion. Kinda reminds me of another very Houston situation with the Asia House development process. I think what we will see is something along the lines of what Texas911 said best, "interesting architecture occurs at the boundary lines." Houston19514
Not to stray off topic, but Greenspoint Place? Google It. ;-) Funny that Hines' description calls it "Greenspoint Place" in the headline, but refers to it as "Greenspoint Plaza" in the body of the description. cloud713
so has this tower been increased 3 floors or is it an error in the article? it also said Hines downtown tower would "only" be 47 floors, not 49.
asubrt
First renderings and site plan. Looks like it will be 25 stories after all. http://swamplot.com/the-first-look-at-that-25-story-residential-highrise-hines-might-build-in-the-museum-district/2013-10-09/#more-71928 Edited November 14, 2018 by asubrt
Texasota
Tearing down a house and replacing it with a "park?" Hines is just trolling now.
Urbannizer
Not bad, but I was expecting something better. Would be nice to see larger renderings to know the official height. Edited October 9, 2013 by Urbannizer

cloud713
It's nothing amazing but I'm digging the height.. Slowly stretching the museum district skyline north.

fatesdisastr
It's density but nothing special for what we know Hines can do.
JoninATX
It's a good infill project.
lockmat
Simple but not sleek. Maybe a better rendering will bring out the good characteristics better?
nativehoustonion
It's ugly, I'm surprised Hines would built this high rise in the Museum District. It looks like a low housing building in south Chicago. What a eye soar, the Warwick Towers built in the 80's looks better then this.

Montrose1100
Well if you want to be taken seriously perhaps you should avoid hyperbole like eye "soar"Well I think he/she meant their eyes will soar with the breeze to get a 360 perspective once this building is complete. Yeah sure it's not a landmark design that will be in architectural books, but it is what it is.. Infill. Not every building in every city can be a gem, and it's not even that tall of a building. If it were +40 stories then we all complaints would be validated.
Texasota
Is it really "infill?" It's taking the place of existing buildings that have *not* outlived there usefulness; it's not going up on vacant land or a brownfield.
nate
Will Oakdale Street be opened up to allow vehicular access to San Jacinto? That would be a big help to this project and the site plan does not show the existing barrier. Perhaps an agreement was reached with METRO that in exchange for opening up Oakdale, they would limit that corner lot to park use. Also, not developing the lot may have enabled them to avoid a re-plat since I have not seen any signs about one. ZKB9
lol I don't get the hate at all. It looks nice and sleek and will make a great addition to that area. That Toronto building shown would look out of place in this area IMO, looks like it'd fit in better downtown or uptown. Also, if you want to talk about disappointing Hines developments, how about that lame "British" neighborhood that was recently announced?
