UtterlyUrban
Cool post, Triton, even though that particular view of the skyline is pretty much certain to never occur - at a minimum, it omits the Marriott Marquis, the 40 story building across Market Square, and perhaps even 6HC.Or the highrise to be built along the Hess garage......
BigFootsSocks
Curiously, the competing 40-story tower is missing. That's Hines for ya. Or it's because they only want to spend money on their properties?
swtsig
Why in god's name would Hines help promote other developers proposed projects?
Avossos
Why in god's name would Hines help promote other developers proposed projects?Yeah. Makes nonsense. If they showed everything proposed or under construction, houston would look a lot different!
shasta
Can someone, with superior photoshop skills. add in the missing buildings? The ones that have broken ground or are scheduled to really soon: Marriott Marquis, the other office towers, the other residential, etc.

Triton
They are doing a traffic study along Travis in this area with multiple lines running across the road.
H-Town Man
Can't imagine that has anything to do with this building, right?
Triton
Can't imagine that has anything to do with this building, right?Maybe not but I figured I'd post it somewhere... It's all along Travis for several blocks but it's mainly located around this area.

mollusk
This is a "throw the spaghetti at the wall" guess, but perhaps they're trying to tinker with the traffic light timing? It's weird - Travis is pretty well synchronized, while on Austin, which also runs north in a less trafficked area of downtown, it seems like one has to stop at just about every block. Cleaning that up could certainly take some load off of Travis.

Montrose1100
After watching the video I wish it was going to be 100 floors. Even though it's not, it's a beautiful structure and it's simple... not in a bad way.
UtterlyUrban
Where on Austin? Near the proposed residential tower?Yes, and, if I am recalling correctly (drove it two days ago), they run up to about Lamar or McKinney. UtterlyUrban
Yes, and, if I am recalling correctly (drove it two days ago), they run up to about Lamar or McKinney.I am either an idiot (possible) or they have picked these up and moved them. I just drove up Austin..... Gone.....
Nate99
Probably doesn't count as activity, but there were some workers in a pickup truck next to an empty flatbed trailer parked on the lot today. They weren't actually doing anything, but they did look to be employed and purposfully on the site, so the pot is still being watched.

Nate99
Maybe we can pitch in and get you a shotgun microphone for these situations. I have been hoping to give a substantive update on this one for months, I'm grasping at straws.
HoustonIsHome
The renderings portray a very handsome building. I just wish it played a more dominant role in the skyline. It should be more imposing. I wish it was 50% taller.
Triton
Looks like this is about to go up! Nate99
Bonus horse in the shot too. There were people going in/out of the back door of the State National building.

Check out the Millico demolition and look at the spot that it's at: http://swamplot.com/daily-demolition-report-retread-mill/2014-09-02/ Good eye. Is it normal to have to take out a demo permit for paving and parking lot?
H-Town Man
This could be for the little white (garage?) building on the right side of Nate's photo, built about 10 years ago, that will have to disappear according to the site plan in post #266. You may be right.. To answer your question, no. They do not need to pull a permit just to clear a parking lot.

That is a walled in private parking lot with an automatic gate entrance on Prairie between El Big Bad/Cabo and Byrds/Georgia's Market. I figured it was for the tenants of whatever was upstairs from Georgia's, but don't actually know.

Those are the parking spots for the condominium owners/residents on the upper floors of the Byrd Building. Very interesting that it's included in the Hines project footprint. I presume they have made arrangements with the condo owners to provide parking in the new Hines structure.
