UtterlyUrban
A brick facade? In these days of beige synthetic stucco ticky-tack, it's nice to see.

The back of the Texaco building has also been done in brick and looks quite nice.

BigBlueContractor
Would be so curious to see if there was a time lapse video showing the start of construction - I would be curious to see how 609 Main looks in a time lapse video - for some reason I think that 609 Main was built extremely fast.... bobruss
Heres a link to the 609 camera and if you look there is a time lapse for its construction, with a couple of hiccups when it got knocked loose.

htownboy
Wow those historical buildings are beautiful! Such a shame that Houston seems to hate them. But I guess people will do anything to make money. edit: Whoa! There's an old abandoned single family home directly south of minute maid near the Incarnate Word Academy. Looks like a nice house and it used to have a neighbor two years ago. I hope it doesn't get torn down, its a pretty house. BTW, it's on this short street called Chenevert. Texasota
It's a protected landmark, so it wont get torn down. Whether it's allowed to sit there and rot into the swamp is another question.

The former neighbor house will eventually house offices/rectory for Incarnate Word/Annunciation Church. They moved it about a year ago on to the church's block, but have not started any restoration work. It looks pretty rough. Both houses have some history around them, no idea if anyone wants to restore the other one.

bobruss
Show them this and set them straight. I really think that most of whats left around Market Square are safe thanks to the Historic district, but I'm not holding my breath

Urbannizer
KHOU's afternoon newscast played a short clip of the drone video. They described the building as a "32-floor mid-rise". http://www.khou.com/news/houston-construction-workers-using-drones-after-new-faa-regulations-passed/315761381
