Sky-guy
Do we know what the exact location is?
lockmat
The first rendering looks different from the rest.
uscats35
This city is maturing by leaps and bounds very quickly!
Naviguessor
I think we are seeing the SW corner of Kirby & W. Alabama with retail facing Kirby. I think...The ghost building in the foreground don't quite make sense. But they are not the point. Naviguessor
Or is it a block South of there? Across from Grace's and Carraba's. I'm unsure.
swtsig
Isn't this the site on Kirby where roak, Hendricks and OTC currently sit? Bc that site will get redeveloped.
Fortune
It's the block surrounded by Coulquitt, Lake St, W Main, and Kirby.
Naviguessor
Yeah. I see it now. It'll be between the car wash and the gas station. Richton (my old street) will dead end near the bottom of those escalators.
fernz
I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this one. I feel it either isn't going to happen, or will be severly scaled down, sort of like BLVD place. I hope I'm wrong though, I really like this. lockmat
That's so random. I don't have that feeling AT ALL! I could understand that vibe, but I would say it's too early to have a "confident vibe." I think it's because we're unfamiliar with the developer and it actually looks very nice and it's not the usual Houston design, which is a good thing. Many have had their hopes brought down with similar renderings. But this area is hot, so that might actually bring some confidence.
Naviguessor
So, what do we think these towers are? Tall Residental, short Office?
lockmat
So, what do we think these towers are? Tall Residental, short Office? My guess is the square one is office. The round one is less functional, making me think it's hotel or residential - maybe boutique office.
Avossos
New design: I have to admit - this has turned out a lot better than I even hoped. Pulling for this!
Texasota
I'm not completely convinced by the glass sail on the rectilinear building.I also wonder what the tent...thing? will actually be made out of. In the rendering it appears to be made of light. That being said, I do think this is a positive development for upper Kirby.

But also because the design is a bit superfluous (not in a bad way), like it would be too expensive to build and turn a profit. I don't know, it's just a feeling. But like I said, I really like it and I hope I'm wrong.
fernz
So, what do we think these towers are? Tall Residental, short Office?I would say the round one is apartments, because of the balconies. The short one could be boutique office, to compete with Hines' tower. Where's the parking?
Naviguessor
Brown pedestal under the round tower probably is parking.
Subdude
I like this design more than almost everything else going up, particularly the oval tower and the metal scrim.

Houston?
I'm confused. Which tower(s) is getting built? The one in the newsletter or the sleek ones on the first page?
shasta
This one could be really great. Upper Kirby could be the next uptown. NOOOOOO.....Upper Kirby should strive to be a Broadway ...not Uptown
JoninATX
Looks like something started. More than likely it's the rendering in that article.
