Heights2Bastrop
woody's has excellent beef jerky.I think it would be cheaper to fly texasboy to Houston, put him up in a motel, feed him and rent him a car than it would be to shop at Woody
BayouCityGirl
So whos organizing the event?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I was wondering that but I am bad at organizing. I mean I only had the idea. LOL! Talk amongst yourselves...I'll keep lurking/reading.
gazpacho70
This would be fun if we could get this thing together, I work downtown so I get to see it all the time. We could walk around and look at the buildings and stop along the way and eat while we are out looking around.
groovehouse
So whos organizing the event?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>What's to organize? Pick a place, a time and show up.
gazpacho70
So true, let's get this together and get our group thing started. Name a time and place and i'm there!
BayouCityGirl
What's to organize? Pick a place, a time and show up.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>that is the organization is picking a place. I just don't understand why it has to be between Montrose OR Downtown when so many of us live in diff. parts of Houston.
editor
I think downtown would be appropriate considering the focus of this forum is so often on urban redevelopment. A perfect place would be Treebeards if they stayed open late enough, but they don't. We'd need someplace where a medium sized group could just show up and blend in without disrupting the place.I think the whole bunch should then take a ride on the light rail together.
gazpacho70
Great Idea! Let's set this plan into motion, everyone who wants to do this ASAP should post and say when we should grt together.
YakuzaIce
Does anyone have an idea of a date? What is best for everyone, Weekend or weekday?
gazpacho70
Weekday if all possible, but anytime would be ok with a little advance notice.

ssullivan
Fridays (sometimes Thursday evenings after about 7:30) through Sundays are best for me, but I have an odd schedule most weeks.
gazpacho70
Yea, my days off are Tue and Wed. But I can take off if I know in advance.

editor
I propose Friday, August 26th to give everyone plenty of notice.
groovehouse
it'd be neat if we could combine a meetup with a walking tour of downtown and possibly a pub crawl!I'm down for Friday, Aug 26th for a meetup. If we do a walking tour, Saturday would be nicer. Heights2Bastrop
I'm guessing a Friday night at The Gold Cup is completely out of the question, huh?
RedScare
I have a client that works there. Maybe I could get us discounts for...umm....drinks. Yeah, that's it, drinks.
ssullivan
Friday August 26 is perfect for me. I'm actually in Houston with my downtown client that week.
dbigtex56
OK, with 20 votes in: 10 for Downtown 6 for Midtown 4 for Montrose 12 for weeknight 8 for weekend So far, it looks like downtown on a weeknight would be the best compromise. Jefe bar, anyone? Or we could all bring 40 oz.-ers and meet under the Main St. bridge...
Heights2Bastrop
Or we could all bring 40 oz.-ers and meet under the Main St. bridge...Food City has a sale on Thunderbird this week. Time to stock up now!
BayouCityGirl
Due to my work schedule. I can't make it. I'm sorry guys It is totally out of question for me to do anything on a weeknight, especially going out.
sevfiv
there's also this option - and that way, if you get frightened, you can just blend in with the crowd! hahahttp://ghpa.org/tours/then those who want to can have food/drinks afterward... dbigtex56
How do y'all feel about La Carafe? Any other suggestions?
sevfiv
la carafe is cool - but sometimes a little crowded...i am still holding up for sunday's tour - i should be there with a couple friends (and probably having lunch at market square beforehand). the tour starts at 2pm this sunday - and there is also the "Window Shopping on Main Street" exhibit as well....
