JR3985
I saw this on SSP, has anyone heard of this project or know where it will be located? Houston to get Hotel Indigo InterContinental Hotels Group Hotel_Indigo.doc
Kirzania
I found this: http://www.hotelbusiness.com/main.aspHit Ctrl+F and look for Indigo - it's a java pop-up, so I don't have the exact addy.To sum up, it saysHowever, unlike previous Hotel Indigos, the Hotel Indigo Houston will materialize from a conversion of a non-lodging commercial property. The brand itself has been created primarily for conversions. The Houston property will have 140 rooms and will located at 5160 Hidalgo St. The hotel will also offer the Golden Bean restaurant, a fitness studio and complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms and public spaces.

Houston19514
Does anyone know which Hotel they are taking over? It looks like the Bradford suites.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>They are not taking over a hotel. As the article pasted above in this thread stated:"Hotel Indigo Houston will mark the brands first non-lodging commercial property conversion. " That means the building they are converting is not currently a lodging property. In other words it is not currently a hotel.

danes75
yes... that'll be a lovely place. now if they'd just bulldoze that strip club.a real estate broker friend of mine recently told me that houston doesn't allow buildings to have commercial office space and residential units in the same building. does anyone know if that's true? i'm not sure WHY that would be. i mean, cummon, an adult video store can be in the parking lot of Dillards but office space can't be in the same building as residential? WTF?

WTF?That is the case in a lot of cities, but I've never heard of it being the case in Houston unless there are neighborhoods with that provision in their deed restrictions.
danes75
hmmm...well thats odd. are there different types of office space? he had a developer that wanted to build a structure with retail first floor, 9 floors of office space, and 12 floors of residential. the developer (supposedly) was told he couldn't build something like that in houston...

Highrise Tower
A Florida-based real estate investment firm has acquired the Hotel Indigo Houston at the Galleria as part of a nationwide move to expand its hospitality portfolio. Driftwood Capital paid an undisclosed amount to acquire the 131-key property, which is located at 5160 Hidalgo Street, near the intersection of Sage Street and Hidalgo Street. While the terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the property was valued at $9.8 million as of Jan. 1, according to Harris County Appraisal District records. HCAD records show the hotel’s previous owner was Tucson, Arizona-based Capri Hospitality Management. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/07/09/galleria-hotel-acquired-by-florida-investment-firm.html
