rechlin
According to the Swamplot post linked above, there were 36 units in this building. But according to HFD via ABC13, 45 units were damaged by the fire. Wonder if the building is a total loss due to heat damage to the garage podium or if it's salvageable. Hopefully nobody lost any pets. The ABC URL says 3 were injured but the headline and article don't say that; hopefully if true that was nothing more than minor smoke inhalation.
hindesky
According to people I talked to that were walking by the building, the fire was started by a vehicle fire in the parking garage which caused a domino effect to the cars next to it.
cspwal
Oh wow that looks bad especially in the parking garage. How many people had moved in?

hindesky
They are taking down the brick and the rock, I guess they are impregnated with smoke odors.
houstontexasjack
The repair work sure is taking time. This will miss the start of fellowship/residency season for the TMC.
houstontexasjack
This flooded with Harvey. I am being told there is a 20kb cap on what I can attach, do I can't get my photo up. Power remains on.

Purdueenginerd
I'm curious as to the repairs to the structure in that garage area. You can get some significant concrete deterioration from fire if exposure was prolonged and significant.

hindesky
I don't like the light colored brick as much as the previous style.
MarathonMan
I don’t mind the lighter brick when it’s new. I don’t like it once it gets stained.

My hope is that it’s meant to mimic the lighter color-designs that were proposed for the “Chelsea” across the street for better coordination in the neighborhood.

kbates2
$323 in maintenance fee is fairly cheap.
rechlin
$341 per square foot for timber construction in a still-gentrifying area sounds nuts. And those maintenance fees will surely increase as the building ages.
HoustonMidtown
The Oaks On Caroline are close by and are in the same ballpark per square foot - they aren't selling too quickly though. https://www.har.com/4820-caroline-street-403/sale_79610978

hindesky
I don't see any furniture on the patios, looks they kicked everyone out? Maybe the smoke removal company didn't do a good job.

Pipes broke during the freeze back in February. It’s been under renovation since then. I think this was built on the Pet Sematary or maybe that graveyard from “Poltergeist.” 1 1
