Twinsanity02
I wonder if these apartments are any closer than the St. Joseph parkway High rise on the west bound lanes where I-45 curves north.
Alec
Wow, just wow...Maybe it is just the angle but that almost seems dangerous. A careening truck has an accident and goes of the pass like happened a few years back in our area where a commuter bus just dumped over the side of I270 and fell 30 feet.I don't know the specifics of that crash, but I would assume the bus went off the edge of a straight section, or more likely the outside of a curve. Not only does momentum direct vehicles away from this building, but the curved barrier closest to the building would get hit from the convex side, so it should better resist impacts that do occur. Moore713
I've seen it up close..you could actually jump the distance
Triton
Man I am shocked just how close the windows are to the ramp.  The east side isn't too bad.. but once you approach the south side, they get super close to the ramp.  Hamilton Apartments Downtown Houston by Marc longoria, on Flickr  Hamilton Apartments Downtown Houston by Marc longoria, on Flickr  Hamilton Apartments Downtown Houston by Marc longoria, on Flickr  Hamilton Apartments Houston by Marc longoria, on Flickr
Twinsanity02
I hope all the residence of that apartment building are physically unattractive. I imagine a "hot" Â woman standing or dressing by the window may distract a few motorists. Yikes!

Triton
So this building isn't likely soundproof and if a wreck ever happens, there's also a possibility that a tire can fly into your bedroom. Niiiiice.... sign me up!!
EllenOlenska
Sorry for the ignorance, but in the (theoretical) highway realignment downtown, what would this 45/59 location look like?
Twinsanity02
These  apartments do have a potential  set of problems including freeway car fires, flying  tires or anything else that occurs on our freeways. It will be interesting to see how the rentals go.
IronTiger
I always found that the old Holiday Inn/Days Inn in Midtown (the one that is veterans housing) seemed freakishly close to the highway.

Montrose1100
I can imagine the noise would be unbearable but people buy +$500k town homes next to at-grade railroad crossings.
Nate99
Exhaust brakes of 18-wheelers overcooking that ramp all night long would not make for an effective lullaby. Maybe it is slated as housing for the deaf.

Maybe it is slated as housing for the deaf. Â Don't forget the motorcycles (those things can be incredibly loud if they're accelerating to 70+ MPH) and others. Maybe the constant hum of the freeways could be a source of white noise for those people who can't sleep without a fan motor going on or something. Montrose1100
Having this so close to the freeway really gives that side of Downtown a good scale when you hop onto 59 from 45. It's amazing how even one 5 story apartment can help make it look more dense.

Twinsanity02
Utterly Urban that's clever. I bet the motorists would be grateful. Maybe you could set up a giant screen and show movies also.
