Popular Post Amlaham
Think this has already been discussed, Houston is hoping to land ARPA-H here. One is already planned for DC, and the other 2 locations are up for bids. https://communityimpact.com/houston/bellaire-meyerland-west-university/development/2023/06/05/houston-seeks-federal-research-hub-as-helix-park-advances/ Of course we have some competition. Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio are apparently all teaming up to make a bid for Pegasus Park in Dallas. Kind of interesting that all cities would team up to bid for Dallas, rivaling against Houston's bid. They believe they have a competitive edge since its all 3 cities now teaming up against 1. https://dallasinnovates.com/three-texas-cities-team-up-to-bring-national-health-research-hub-to-pegasus-park/ https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/biontx-supports-texas-consortium-for-arpa-h-customer-experience-hub-301822050.html I feel like Houston desperately needs this, so fingers crossed 🤷♂️

Pulling from the CI Article, TMC Helix Park is almost perfect for the description of 2nd Hub bid given our partnering institutions, proximity to TMC Main Campus, # of annual clinical trials, Houston's diversity for those trials, Research standing, etc. etc. I'd be absolutely speechless if Pegasus Park won consideration over TMC on this specific bid type.

Laughed a couple of times. I can't speak to the life sciences pedigree of Dallas or the not-Dallas cities, but strictly from a writing perspective it was just a bit off. And it has been out there since April! Wondered if an editor actually reviewed it prior to publication. To me, it read like an advertorial in a few instances. At times an oddly worded one. "The competition is expected to be fierce, with cities nationwide also in the running—including a rival proposal by Houston in Texas’ southeast." Thank you for the geographic insight from Dallas - in Texas' north. Also, the paragraphs below this section literally repeated themselves. "Dallas ARPA-H hub would reach out to other ‘spokes’ in Texas" I mean... "hubwe" Like I said, no commentary about the city or cities involved. Just a couple of oddball things (to me) in this profile of what's happening. Edited June 6, 2023 by ChannelTwoNews lack of "hubwe"
Popular Post stuckINdallas
This is what Bard says.. Q: Which city is better for the ARPA-H hub? Dallas or Houston? Both Dallas and Houston are excellent candidates for the ARPA-H hub. However, there are some key differences between the two cities that may make one a better fit than the other. Dallas Dallas is a major financial and business hub, with a strong economy and a large pool of talent. The city is home to a number of top universities, including UT Southwestern Medical Center and Southern Methodist University. Dallas has a relatively low cost of living, making it an attractive place for businesses and individuals. The city has a strong track record of attracting and retaining top talent in the life sciences industry. Houston Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world. The city has a strong track record of attracting and retaining top talent in the life sciences industry. Houston has a relatively low cost of living, making it an attractive place for businesses and individuals. The city has a strong track record of innovation and collaboration in the life sciences industry. Ultimately, the decision of which city will host the ARPA-H hub will come down to a number of factors, including the strength of the bids, the political climate, and the availability of funding. However, both Dallas and Houston are excellent candidates and either city would be a great fit for the hub. Q: If Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, wouldn't it be a better choice? Yes, Houston's location in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, would certainly be a big plus for the city's bid to host the ARPA-H hub. The Texas Medical Center is home to over 100 hospitals and research institutions, and it attracts top talent from around the world. This would provide a strong foundation for the ARPA-H hub, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in economic activity. In addition to the Texas Medical Center, Houston also has a strong track record of innovation and collaboration in the life sciences industry. The city is home to a number of startups and established companies, and it is a major center for research and development. This would provide a fertile environment for the ARPA-H hub to thrive. However, it is important to note that Dallas also has a strong bid for the ARPA-H hub. The company will operate 30,000 square feet of world-class lab and office space in the TMC3 Collaborative Building within TMC’s new Helix Park complex, a 37-acre mixed-use campus with a focus on therapeutic and diagnostic research. The expansion marks Portal’s continued growth as a national life sciences VC and portfolio development company, expanding its capabilities with support from capital partners Beacon Capital and ZoE Life Sciences. “Houston is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., and home to one of the world’s leading cancer research institutions, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center,” said Portal’s Founder and CEO, John Flavin. “It’s critical for us to open in Texas and leverage nearby pipelines from Rice University, UTHealth Houston, Texas A&M, University of Houston, Baylor College of Medicine, and others across Houston’s innovative life sciences ecosystem. We’re thrilled to work with TMC to help grow tomorrow’s biotech and medtech leaders.” Portal’s Houston presence and TMC collaboration will drive innovation for startups in a state that already claims more than 4,800 biotech companies. In addition, Portal will gain access to TMC’s expansive network of healthcare institutions, research organizations, and commercialization resources within a unique and robust infrastructure for startups. Together, the organizations will offer support such as leadership mentoring, life sciences events, venture capital pitch days, and career networking opportunities. "TMC has steadily been building an innovation ecosystem in Houston through initiatives like the TMC Venture Fund, our incubator programs, and our global BioBridge relationships," said Bill McKeon, CEO of Texas Medical Center. “In Portal, we have a partner with a proven track record of leveraging venture capital funding, expert partners, and strong programming to support dynamic, entrepreneurial businesses at pivotal moments of their growth. We look forward to building on our collective expertise and shared vision to further support the breakthroughs of early-stage life science ventures.” Designed to unite healthcare, life science, and business users, TMC Helix Park is anchored by research labs, large-scale commercial spaces, retail, a hotel and conference center, and public green space, all within approximately 6 million developed square feet. Portal will move into Helix Park’s TMC3 Collaborative Building in Q2 2024, actively looking for investments and offering premier lab facilities and development resources to startups between seed and Series B rounds. “We’re excited about expanding our partnership with Portal Innovations and TMC to support the life sciences ecosystem in Houston,” said Fred Seigel, President and CEO of Beacon Capital Partners. “Portal has been at the forefront of breaking into emerging U.S. markets, and Houston represents a prime opportunity to expand our commitment to growing life sciences across the U.S.” Houston is poised to become the leading U.S. life sciences hub, with a flourishing infrastructure that includes major academic institutions, world-class research centers, and a large and diverse talent pool. X.R.
Were all those more mature trees already there in the parks or did they bring them in? I'm assuming its more expensive which is why you don't see it that often?
