The mariah carey song is the last good Christmas song ever recorded IMO.I always liked 'Little drummer Boy'.also 'White Christmas' and 'I'll be Home For Christmas' by Bing Crosby. And of course Willie singing Pretty PaperI agree. Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time" is good, only because it's extremely synth-o-spectacular. I disliked it as a child but appreciate now as an adult. I can't stand Jessica Simpson's Christmas album. Especially her remake of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Nick Lachey. It makes me angry. august948
Eartha Kitt - "Santa Baby" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFMyF9fDKzE Others have done it but none can compare to the original. Worst of all is Taylor Swift's pop-isized version. It's like a girl doing a woman's job.
samagon
Adam Sandler doesn't get any mention? For Thanksgiving, there is of course, Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie.

But apparently Bowie hated the drummer boy song and refused the duet, confiding that the reason he did the special at all was because his "Mum" loved Bing Crosby. The writer got together to formulate a new set of lyrics for Bowies part in the duet . . . . . InterestingThat duet became very famous.

samagon
is it the southpark version of O Holy Night, or just the song itself?
Highway6
is it the southpark version of O Holy Night, or just the song itself? Cartman's version is especially magical.. but any version will do.

trymahjong
Not sure I can name a favorite but there is a catchy tune that seems to stick in my head whether I want it to or not so it's really the first Christmas song I think of. . . I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasHmmmThe little girl (Gayla Peevy) who originally recorded it is from my hometown ( Okc) it got a lot of airtime on local radio when I was a kid and even now the local TV station go out every Christmas to interview her and ask her to sing a bit of it accapella -
Subdude
I mainly like the really old ones (not surprisingly ). I think it is because that is what my folks mainly listened to. Ones that come to mind are God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Silver Bells Carol of the Bells Oh Christmas Tree Angels We Have Heard on High Good King Wenceslas We Three Kings It Came Upon a Midnight Clear It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year The First Noel Let it Snow Do You Hear What I Hear? If I had to compose my Christmas in Hell list, the carols Satan would play incessantly would include: Happy Christmas (War is Over) Last Christmas (George Michael) Another Auld Lang Syne (New Years, but close) Do They Know It's Christmas Time at All? ("feed the world!") Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time (sorry, Montrose1100!) Santa Baby (sorry, August948!) Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree Blue Christmas

mollusk
"Last Christmas" by Wham!. The horror, oh the horror.. (****shudder......****) That almost makes McCartney's "A Wonderful Christmas Time" bearable. I said almost.
Montrose1100
What a bunch of Grinch's. Weren't some of you raving over synth-pop a couple threads down? "Santa Baby" is pretty awful, no matter who sings it... "Last Christmas" is over played. Maybe it was pure coincidence, but last year I couldn't escape it. It was EVERYWHERE. Every store, radio station, elevator. I almost went mad. I use to like it. But now it's like the looney tunes theme for that baby sitter from hell (Curb your Enthusiasm). JLWM8609
As a child, I remember 102 playing the snot out of this during the Christmas season. Having it beat into your head should make you dislike it, but how can you hate the Temps?

In 2010, I went to Florida before Christmas, and I must have heard "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at least 2 times and I think a third. The first perp was the Burger King there at Kress and Interstate 10. (Yes, I did bump this thread post-Christmas. My lights are still up) Edited January 7, 2015 by IronTiger
