bobruss
I was told that this new construction next door to Sicardi gallery is an architecture firms new offices. Pictures will follow. The building structure is all steel and looks like it will be a very interesting addition to the Menil neighborhood.

hindesky
I wonder if the wood siding will wrap the entire structure?

bobruss
This project gets more interesting every day. I like the east/west cut out that runs through the base of the building. The orientation with Sicardi Gallery creates some nice negative and positive spaces. The opening is more visually affective approaching from the west down Alabama from Mandell. The affect of the horizontal wood siding juxtaposed against Sicardi Gallery's galvanized corrugation is visually appealing. The scale of that extraordinary cantilevered eastern side of the offices is dramatic. I like this project. I was told this is the office of Parra Architects.

bobruss
I apologize to Kyle Architects for giving Parra credit. Kudos to Dillon Kyle.

Popular Post hindesky
Wood continues to wrap the building. The upper parts have texture to them.

bobruss
That texture is actually a leaf motif that is carved or pressed in the building material. This was actually previewed in their original sign announcing the construction which was made of this same material. It really came out nice. This stretch of Alabama is really getting to be an interesting area. So we now have a Happy Dog, X, which is a very cool retail arts space, Dillon Kyle, Sicardi, Boxwood and coming soon a retail center and restaurant at Mandell. Very cool and all across from the Menil neighborhood. Glad to see this upgrade and dynamics happening to a very walkable neighborhood. Even though I don't live there anymore happy to see it filling in with such great energy.
