Houstonian in Iraq
I'm sure everyone is occupied by Hurricane Rita. As they should be. I cant help but divert my attention to the Astros. They are two games ahead of the Phillies in the wild card raceThere is only 10 games left in the seasonAt this very moment they are playing against Pittsburgh and are up 9-4 in the bottom of the 6thWill they make the playoffs? If so how far? World Series? Is it too soon to say?Is it going to be another repeat of last season?Do you even care?
ToolMan
Will they make the playoffs? yesHow far? They will beat Atlanta because of the pitching, unfortanately they will lose the other series because their offense sucks (or blows)Is it too son to say? I just said itAnother repeat of last season? I just said itDo I care? YES

BayouCityGirl
I wish their Rally today was at a decent time! 3-6:30 PM at Min. Maid Park (everyone is usually in traffic on the freeway going home)But I am not going regardless. But glad to see the Astros getting somewhere compared to the begining of the season! ToolMan
I agree about the back-toback National League Wildcard Champs thing. Who cares - they didn't win a division and shouldn't be celebrating like they won the pennant. But LET'S GO STROS!!!!

They were 15 and 30 in april, came back to win this wild card and did it with either AA kids or 40 plus year old men. I think a celebration was in order. RedScare
Apparently, the experts at ESPN disagree as well.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2005...tory?id=2179945The Astros, with their cast of pitchers that a Hollywood director would love, are the hip pick to win it all.Never in all my years in Houston (except maybe in '86), have I seen so many national people on the Astros bandwagon. Hope it doesn't jinx them, as Keith Oldbermann thinks.
ToolMan
Interesting hardly anyone has the Braves winning. Hopefully all of their rookies choke against our pitching, and starting right now I am one of the Padres biggest fans. DJ V Lawrence
GO STROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!But if, IF, the 'Stros didn't win it, I wanna see another team's curse go away and see the White Sox take this one. But if the 'Stros make it to the World Series, screw plane ticket costs. I'll fly down there just for that Series. Wouldn't miss that for anything in the world!!! KimberlySayWhat
Thanks, Houstonian. You know, I still don't get the whole National League/American League thing. Also, how can some cities have two teams in the same sport? For example: Chicago's White Sox & Cubs, NY's Mets & Yankees, L.A.'s Clippers & Lakers. What are the chances of Houston getting two professional teams in the same sport? I can't see it with football because our football blows, but what about the NBA or MLB?
