Urbannizer
A case was filed with the FAA for a crane here, is a major redo planned for this building? https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/searchAction.jsp?action=displayOECase&oeCaseID=331544375&row=19

MaxConcrete
Work is in progress on the distinctive structure on the top of the AT&T building on Weslayan at West Alabama. So far the top "layer" is almost totally dismantled. I always assumed the large structure was some kind of microwave transmitter and receiver. It's been there forever, and I was always intrigued by it as a kid in the 1970s. More recently I've wondered why a 1960s-era radio structure is still needed. Maybe it's just a shell, and the electronics have been kept up-to-date. So far it looks like the work may be a removal job. Maybe the new tower across the street had a negative impact on its operation. Anyways, we'll see what happens to the structure in the next few days. phillip_white
Nice find! Looks like they're removing the cell tower and doing a $1.5m remodel. I wonder if $1.5 million buys one or more exterior windows? Gator Purify
Thank GOD. If they follow this up by doing the same thing with their downtown building, I will cry tears of joy.
MaxConcrete
The microwave structure was entirely removed, and no traces remain. It was a distinctive structure in the Greenway Plaza area for around 50 years. It wasn't attractive, no doubt, but it was interesting and different. Now we're left with the unattractive building. rechlin
That was for removing the microwave antenna podium (the dark gray tower on the left side of the roof) from the AT&T building.
