smartalek
does anyone know what this property has been/when it was built, and so on? it is at the corner of st. joseph parkway and caroline... Post an address and I will see if I can cross reference in old city directories.
sevfiv
it's at 1217 St. Joseph Parkway (which would have been Calhoun). i have a 1955 city directory - d'oh - i'll have to check it when i get home
dbigtex56
Tried to look up this address at HCAD's website, with no luck. Oddly, there's still addresses listed on Calhoun St, but the closest I could find was 1203 - and can't figure out how St. Joseph Pkwy is listed on their records. sevfiv
i had the same frustrating experience...the parking lot on caroline is listed, but nothing about the building. so if it isn't listed on caroline, calhoun, or st. joseph pkwy, then what? also, sometimes buildings are listed under "0 streetname" but no luck there either...ugh
MidtownCoog
looks like a quickie mart to me
smartalek
Maybe 1217 St Joseph does not correspond with old Calhoun address. In 1941 city directory the is no 1217, but a 1212. 1209 Calhoun has a sourthwest Printing Plant, Correll Newsprint co and Pierce Allyn typsetting. I bet this building was something like small business. Looks like architecture from that period. Oh World.
RedScare
Most or all of the block looks to be owned by Max A. Friedman. A white pages lookup reveals a Max A. Friedman.Friedman, Max A5602 San Felipe StHouston, TX 77056-2605(713) 963-0184I'd give him a call or letter and see if he knows about it.Neat building.
