I believe this is the view of the north side of the building that will face Market Square. This is based on the other renderings of the Chronicle site building. Block 42: Wonder what happened to the glass on the lower floors. Makes a substantial difference.

Highrise Tower
I’d much prefer the glass base but it’s still wonderful
Naviguessor
Aside from a change is the façade over the garage levels, I cannot identify any other significant changes.

H-Town Man
11' shy of Museum Tower in Dallas, but about a generation more advanced in terms of urbanism and making use of the site. I'm not sure if any building in Texas has built so high on such a small site.

I agree with you. Then again the other guys reaction was a bit hyperbolic. This update is better. Its more honest and I think will help accentuate the curve more than glass will. The design of this building is going to make the tower next door look extremely dated and silly.
CaptainJilliams
Despite the changes, this is still a pretty beautiful tower. It'll be a great addition to this area of town!
kbates2
I guess maybe "quite a bit" was aggressive. The base looks altered as well as the North facing facade. The crown looks a bit shorter and the cut-out on the south-side looks less steep. I still like the rendering a lot.
Twinsanity02
Do I understand this correctly? The very ugly chronicle garage is going to be replaced by this beautiful high rise apartment building? Say it's so Joe.
hindesky
I guess I’m going to have to find a new vantage point for my pics. Took many a bike trips up that garage.
Montrose1100
Anyone comparing this to RD is laughable. A Hines structure, no matter how modest, could never achieve the cheapness RD does on 610 (heading south before 59).
jmitch94
Hines is Mercedes, well build not overly flashy but very handsome. RD is Maserati, very flashy with terrible build quality and in the end is just a very expensive Chrysler.

The state filing for the Block 42 multifamily project lists Houston-based House+Partners as the design firm. A spokesman from Hines declined to comment at this time.

The actual design itself was by Munoz+Albin, right? Would be consistent with Munoz+Albin's past projects since they normally finish their commitment after Design Development and then hand it off to another firm to do Construction Documents. Could be wrong though. Edited January 24, 2019 by Luminare

Popular Post CREguy13
The cars in that garage are likely on month-to-month contracts, if not daily parking. Realistically, this thing could be down in a month. My understanding was that Hines wanted both Block 42 and Block 58 to deliver around the same time, with B42 actually delivering first. I imagine this garage will be gone within 30 - 60 days.
