JR3985
I have noticed that they have started clearing a large piece of land on 18 the street and 610 N loop right accross from the Whataburger. It is across the freeway from the new HISD building. Does anyone know what is being built?
RedScare
I assume you mean just inside the West Loop, where the Metro Nexus building was. If so, that will become a large apartment complex, and possibly some townhomes, if I remember the thread correctly.
JR3985
No, go down 610 just a little further and that is the site I am talking about. There is a Whataburger across the street. If I am not mistaken a garden center or some type of nursery used to be there!! Edited November 16, 2005 by JR3985

Maybe they're getting ready for Xmas trees?

TexasCielo
Alliance Communites just bought the 8.2 acres on the corner of I-610 and W. 18th street for a 4 story luxury apartment complex to be called Broadstone Lofts on W. 18th. 5.7 acres will be used for the complex, the remaining 2.5 acres will be divided up between a family style restaurant and either a branch bank or small retail center..."Alliance has 4 other properties in Houston, the closest one being in the Galleria area.Forgot to add the website...http://www.broadstoneliving.com/texas.htmlthe sites states "Coming to Houston Winter 2006"Not very "luxury" if you ask me, but it is nice to see money being invested to help clean up the area.

Urbannizer
Proposed residential on W 18th St between Ashland and Rutland. I'm not sure of the exact site along this stretch but from the file it seems to be the location of the Hits Theater. SubdivisionPlatPDF_Plat.Eighteenth Street Lofts.pdf Edit: Location is actually 331 W. 18th
AREJAY
Nice, that's almost directly kitty-corner from the Bell Heights development, at the corner of 18th and Ashland St. http://www.bellheightshouston.com/ And both are walking distance to Torchy's... That could be dangerous.
Angostura
It's not HITS. The plat puts it between Lot 39 and Lot 35, which makes it formerly Lots 36, 37 & 38, which is 331 W 18th. It's the green house with the brick pavers in front. Picture here. From the HAR listing, I'm a little surprised it's a tear-down, but there you go. It's listed at $675k, but has been on the market for close to 2 months. Sale hasn't closed yet; presumably contingent on the re-plat. Urbannizer
Listed on today's demo report: http://swamplot.com/daily-demolition-report-no-wasted-space/2016-05-05/
mkultra25
It was demoed several days ago, and the lot's been cleared. Nothing there now but an unobstructed view of the back side of the Houston Heights Tower.
