Adopt A Storm Drain In Houston

Recommended Posts

I was one of 40 or so at the zoom meeting of Neartown/Montrose. Last night.

Abbie Kamin and Sallie Alcorn spoke.

Sallie Alcorn   ( atlarge5@houstontx.gov) developed a intriguing idea of citizens adopting and naming storm drains - the anticipated result of keeping debris from clogging storm drains is less street flooding.   I like the idea and hope it is well received!

I helped clean the road drains around my condo complex during Rita and Ike. I helps to keep the streets from flooding which could eventually reach buildings if not kept free of debris. Most of the debris is leaves and small limbs clogging the road drains.

The city already tried this and the results were about one would expect for a free for all naming program.
