gto250us
Any one have any info on the old firestation at 1702 Washington? The place is an old brick station built in 1940. It is currently owned by Joe Presswood. He runs restaurant supply - autions in houston. I wonder if he has any plans for the building. It is small but has great character. Right next door at 1708, 1716 & 1722 condo/townhomes were built. It would be a shame for the firestation to go the same way.
RedScare
They just started doing some renovation last week. I don't know if they have a tenant or just sprucing it up.At one time, the plan was to put lofts in there. Then, apparently they decided to rent it out as restaurant space. Don't know if they have any takers.

I would be interested to know how they got the brick so clean. Boy I would love to live in that building.

Fire Station No. 6 In 1903, another No. 6 fire station was constructed at 1702 Washington Ave. and Ash Place. It was a "modern" single-bay, two-story brick building. FIREhat
A marketing firm is restoring old Station 6 for use as its offices. This is the station on Washington closer to Houston than the current Station 6. Incidentally, the station used by 6's between this one and the present one is still standing as well. It's really nice to see this kind of attention to historical structures.

The automobile is a 1974 or slightly later Ford Mustang II if that helps establish a date for the image.

dbigtex56
In a Fire Museum, do they put up signs saying "Please do not touch the fire"?

Never saw any of those, but the Fire Museum in Midtown is worth a visit. Lots of old pictures and such.
