Cougar98
Hello, I am the owner of YogaOne. Thanks HAIF for getting the information out. We have hot yoga and other styles of yoga too. We will cool the rooms down quite a bit for the other styles of yoga (ashtanga, vinyasa flow, yin yoga). I hope you will come check us out. We are having a grand opening party on Friday, November 14, from 7-9pm. You are all invited. We open for business with a full schedule of over 40 yoga classes tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22. To the owner of Crave Sushi, good luck with your buildout! We will put some photos of the studio up on our website soon.

Popular Post Urbannizer
Looks like a residential high-rise is (well, more likely was) planned for 3030 Travis St. Sometime between Jan. 2015 and Aug. 2015 the owners removed all leasing information from the strip center that sits on the site. I was going to dump this in the Houston: Potential thread but there appears to be some intent to build here, just may happen later rather than sooner. http://www.estudioarchitecture.com/# Street View: https://www.google.com/maps/place/3030+travis+st+houston+tx/@29.7429346,-95.3773422,3a,75y,323.82h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m4!1s0XnkosqAYDeJkmiJkWPijg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xc2661e4e68979a77!6m1!1e1

Montrose1100
I was just saying the other day, when is gold glass going to make a come back? The tower portion actually looks like the Jenga Tower that Austin is getting. I can dig the staircase but it's great infill.

CREguy13
This has definitely been scrapped, but good to know that the owner/developer for that land has the appetite for a project of this scale. With it's exposure to the new superblock park, proximity to MATCH and Mid Main, I'd think this will still be a high-profile development even though we may have missed it for this cycle. I think we will see a lot fewer full-block apartment projects, and more high-rise/mid-rise developments that just take up a portion of the block (high-rise maybe full block). Land prices are pretty level right now, but once these new residences move-in and all the amenities fill out, it will be harder to make a Pearl Midtown, or Camden Midtown economical unless you really jack up the rents.

I don't mind smaller or less full block developments. We certainly got A LOT this time around.
BeerNut
this is such a prime spot for a midrise. I think the yoga studio is the only tenant.

No, just your "gone in the next 3 to 5" (days? years?) comment above. Thought you might have seen a demo permit. The block has been listed for sale for about two months per my source. 1.15 acres.

The company has the land under contract and is working with Ziegler Cooper Architects on the design of a 12-story building.

Boring, but competent and consistent. Would really like to see ZC push the envelope on something, but one thing is for sure...they maintain a satisfactory level of consistency and quality. They have their designs down to a science, which is why they may appear to be boring. They are a corporate firm remember. With that being said they are a great firm to do exactly what you just mentioned which is infill. Every city needs at least a few firms that are like a ZC. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to argue about either. The more infill we get from firms like these, the less space to build tract projects, the more opportunities for stand out projects because of land value/return on investment.
wilcal
First midtown mid-rise project announced since parking minimums were eliminated? Feel like it'll skew higher end though.

I really hope so.
