Globalarb
I've heard good things about this place...and their sandwiches...but I'm clueless as to where it is. Anyone know? Thanks!

midtown 4.2
Actually there is a slight contoversy regarding Les Givrals. The original (1980's) Givrals, on Milam, moved into the Hoa Binh shopping center (between Milam and Travis), and another vietnamese sandwich shop opened up in the old location. . . using the same name. I recall overhearing the orignal Givrals owner expressing her frustration to a Houston Press reporter once. Anyway, both locations offer up good AND cheap sandwiches. . . .and other stuff. Don't be intimidated by the hole-in-the-wall asian atmosphere. . . we asians don't bite ; )
Globalarb
Oh, I love hole-in-the-wall, authentic places. I've tried so many Pho places all over the city, alongside other ethnic cuisine. Any Pakistani food lovers on the board? Savoy is the best. Thanks for all the clarification, I'll have to try them both!
Globalarb
I pulled to Hoa Binh trifecta today. Pho, sandwich, and a little shopping at the market. Tried the original Givrals -- Fantastic! By the way, the Pho shop in the same shopping center has the greatest iced coffee drink (french coffee out of a press w/ ice and condensed milk)...10x better than Starbucks, not to mention less than half the price. Thanks for the help! JFC
anyone know anything on this. it's coming soon to midtown.....<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I know the sign is up for the TABC mixed beverage license, but as far as an opening date I have not heard anything. I would think that The Bond Lounge will be the next open in Midtown since they have begun construction.
kylejack
I saw a coming soon sign in the 2700 block of Milam last night, behind Les Givrales. Anyone heard anything about this place? Tax records seem to indicate its at 2704 Milam #C. Is it really a good idea to start a seafood restaurant a block and a half from Reef?
brian0123
That's exciting news! Reef is a little too fancy for my taste. If this place caters to a different demographic (mine)... it will work great. I've always wanted something like a Shrimp & Stuff (in Galveston) nearby in Midtown. IntheKnowHouston
Midtown Centre, the retail center at 2700-2704 Milam St, is being renovated, according to materials for the property. Marketing materials also seem to indicate the center will be renamed from Midtown Centre to Midtown Market. https://moseleycommercial.com/listings/2700-milam/ https://moseleycommercial.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/MilamINFO.pdf

Or has it closed? I have not visited this part of Midtown in a while. The most recent site plan for Midtown Centre indicates Spotlight Karaoke's 3,700 sf unit is available for lease. Also, the updated site plan shows Les Givral's expansion. The restaurant is expanding, taking over partial space previously occupied by Red Pier. Here is the site plan from last year's listing for comparison:

A retail center is located on the property at 2700-2704 Milam St. Listed for lease on Loopnet and Moseley Commercial's website, Midtown Centre was poised for renovations. Does anyone know if renovations plans for the entire property are moving forward?

I don't know if Spotlight Karaoke at 2700 Milam St is rebranding or not, but it's being replaced by Nightingale (or may be named Nightingale Karaoke). 2700 Milam St is located in Midtown Centre.
