Montrose1100
I have a few:Crawford Park Columbia Park (in honor of the Space Shuttle obviously) Park of the Americas Texas Central Monopoly Park Downtown Oaks Leeland Park (in honor of Mickey Leeland) Perot Park (In honor of Kim Perot) Armstrong Park (in honor of the first man on the moon..or Lance) I'll post a few others later Oh, and we should name the dog section after Bud Adams, since it will probably be full of crap That would be nice, but in Hemisphere Park in San Antonio, they had the "Americas" name first, (Tower of the Americas). When I heard the new "Hilton Americas" Hotel, I thought it was being build in S.A. because of this. More then likely this thing will be bush something. Guest danax
Anyone know if this was a part of the original 6600 acre tract bought by the Allen Bros in 1836? I'm guessing it was. Maybe we should have an Allen Park, not just Parkway, although there would be confusion between the two so maybe not.Gotta put the PC version out there at least. How bout La Parque H-Town? torvald
YES!!!!But my entry is "Surface Lot Replacement Park", or "NAMBLA". oh NO! now anyone googling NAMBLA will get HAIF now... a quick HAIF search says this thread is the only mention. Roy Hofheinz Park, maybe? frankly, there needs to be more things in houston to honor him... but i guess if it's filled with homeless folks from other parts of downtown, as some of you suggest, then maybe not the new park. Rio Grande Valley
I am sticking with Spirit of Houston Park, because it reflects the can-do spirit of Houstonians and will be place where the area residents and visitors from all walks of life to mingle and unite as one be Houston family. DJ V Lawrence
That would be nice, but in Hemisphere Park in San Antonio, they had the "Americas" name first, (Tower of the Americas). When I heard the new "Hilton Americas" Hotel, I thought it was being build in S.A. because of this. Actually, I thought of that name because of Hilton Americas. More then likely this thing will be bush something. I seriously doubt it. We already have George Bush Intercontinental. We need to trim our Bush a little bit...no pun intended Here's a few others... -Selena Park -Johnson Park (named after Lyndon B Johnson) -Swisha Park (for all you thugs out there) -The Park built by the White man (named after mayor Bill White ) -okay fine, Black Park (named after Clint Black) -Nelson Park (named after Willie Nelson. Imagine the cloud of smoke there if that happened:) ) -Zindler Park (EYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEWITNESS NEWS) -Rather Park (after Dan) -Benson Memorium Park (after Lloyd Benson) -Destiny's Park -The Parks (If we got the Parks Shops already, why not?!) -Tillman Park (after the football player-turned-soilder killed in Afghanistan) -(I can already see it now) Olsteen Park, after John. -Lone Star Park -Phillips Park (named after Bum) ...once again, more later
bachanon
i too had thought of lloyd bentson and the allen bros.why not just call it crawford park? people looking for the park would know that crawford dead ends into its namesake park. houstonfella
How about "This Park Could be Made in a Minute" lol.... seriously..... what kind of name would fit. Central no. The Oasis. MidtownCoog
Skyline Park would not mesh with the Skyline District on the West side of downtown.
houstonfella
No one is pessimistic re naming the park. It is just the right name... and someone will come up with it, trust me. I remember when we were naming our newsletter at work. Heard some names that were so so and then, wella, a cool name popped up and there it was. We have lots of creative people in this town and one of them will throw in a name for the park that we can't resist.
Gary
Skyline Park would not mesh with the Skyline District on the West side of downtown.Yeah I thought about that, but the view would still be that of our skyline, just from the South. houstonfella
Park of the Americas. Is that too like flag waving? How about Park Houston. Sounds like a parking lot eh? Whew. I'm sweatin' this one. I'll leave it to people that have creative minds. I try hard, though.

TheNiche
Since the park is on the east side of downtown, I like EastHo Nah, the EastHoes are all over by the port. If you should have Wildwood and a Jefferson, they'll take you on over by the Wayside and let you Polk your Clinton through their Canals. Don't forget to wear Goode Armour. Oh, and watch out for the Manchester. You'll know her when you see her on account of her Forest Hills and the Woodridge. [if only I could set that to the voice and rhythm of George Carlin...]
