Emma R. News Boys Home At 1600 Washington Ave.

Miss E. Ferdinand Trichelle co publisher of the Houston railroad employees' newspaper, the Railroad Echo, founded the Emma R. News Boys Home for orphaned and homeless boys in 1910. She named it for her mother Emma R. Gilbreath. The home operated at various locations from 1910 until 1922.
