Irvan Candy Company Building At 1116 Hemphill St.

Recommended Posts

In 1920, Joseph Finger and Lamar Cato designed the Irvan Candy Company Building.  That intersection doesn't exist today. I assume it was the the termination with the road and the train tracks.

Rare finding, but I wish I had a better quality picture. Anyone find anything else?

Here's the 1923 directory excerpt for Hemphill St.

I think Railroad Street followed the railroad. Here's the 1943 aerial of Hemphill and the dead end at the railyard

And the directory excerpt from 1923 for Railroad

My guess is that the factories were South of the Railroad on Hemphill.
