Popular Post astrohip
A couple shots from new drone. Thanks to @hindesky for advice on drones. A shot from the NW corner, showing the entire project. You can see the work they're doing on Alabama. And a shot from the south (hovering above Richmond), looking north. In the far background, that's The River Oaks condo straight ahead, with Lamar Towers to the right, and St. Lukes to the left.

astrohip
Was that the original design, a couple of three-story buildings? I thought all of them were high-rises, with GFR. Nonetheless, this is a smart take. Especially not knowing how the market will react to more office space in that area. And there is an ongoing and growing demand, on the consumer level, for more retail & restaurant in this general area.

I wish it was setback just a little more from the street. BS is a traffic-y, noisy street.

And not the ground floor from street? Yes. Typically when discussing architecture, the term setback refers to when an upper portion of the building is recessed away from the forward face of a lower portion. When discussing land-use, it would refer to the distance between the building and the lot line. I was speaking of the building's architecture. I think there is a very loose comparison that can be made between the multiple regular intervals in its setbacks to how art-deco design uses regular or regularly diminishing intervals in setbacks: (Fisher Building, Detroit) The old Art Deco skyscrapers that you find in New York, Chicago, and Detroit are my some of my favorite buildings. Geoff8201
They are adding a new section of chain link fence to block off the small parking lot off Buffalo Speedway. Most action I’ve seen on the site in years. 3 1
Popular Post Highrise Tower
I drove by today to see the new blue screen. Exciting news!! According to the TDLR filing, they are planned to start in November 2023. I wonder if they are about to do site work? Or maybe just a general barrier to the property? What was the situation with the 18-wheeler parking lot? For several years, the curb space for along Buffalo Speedway was used as an 18-wheeler parking area. I always thought it was illegal parking. They placed yellow parking blocks at the site!! This is amazing!! No more 18-wheelers illegally parking.

Geoff8201
Honestly when I saw digging I figured it was more soil testing or utility marking, or other pre-construction site checks. But that they were going to be ongoing. I didn’t figure they would dig holes just to cover them back up and hightail it out of there. Could of just been a dog burying a bone.
