Popular Post hindesky
Was heading to Costco when I saw the Crane Masters Inc. AT crane making its way in the hole so I stopped to take some pics. The rigger in the green high visibility vest confirmed it's going up this weekend. The worker is the orange vest is the Tellepsen superintendent I talked with before when they were setting up their work site office trailer. https://www.cranemasters.com
hindesky
When I went by around 10 am they hadn't erected anything yet. I'm guessing it's too windy. All cranes have a note section in the operating manual that specify what that particular crane can safely operate at depending on the wind speed. The Tadano RT's I was operating could be operated up to 25mph above that you had to derate the capacities by 50% and when the wind is 32mph or higher you aren't supposed to operate the crane at all. The wind on the ground isn't what it is at the tip of the boom. Some crane's have an anemometer installed on the boom tip.
hindesky
Forgot to mention that the concrete contractor is Building Concrete Solutions. They are a division of Tellepsen. Saw a bunch of their workers on site today. https://tellepsen.com

It's incredibly windy around here today. I was watching this from our balcony, along with the work at the new St. John's softball/tennis complex. Speaking of which, they were working at 6:30am. I could hear the beep-beeps from all the heavy equipment moving around. I thought Houston had a morning work curfew? I remember when I was making deliveries to job sites in the city they didn't want us there before 8am (if it involved heavy equipment making noise).
Popular Post Geoff8201
Despite the wind they got some of the second tower crane up. Tomorrow should be a great day to get the rest done. Not looking forward to it if we get tropical trouble mid week. Always at the mercy of the weather. When we did our second cooling tower cell this past spring the 900-Ton Luffer caught some issues with wind but issues unrelated with faulty sensors added a whole day and a half to the project. Last photo was from earlier when the flatbed trailed couldn’t back up enough to pivot his way out. The first tower crane was there to give the assist!

bobruss
It was announced today that both the Commodore Perry and Luties restaurant in Austin, and the Bowie, in Ft Worth, both Auberge properties, received 2 Michelin keys which are like the restaurant stars. Along with Emma in San Antonio they were the only hotels in Texas to receive two keys. That bodes well for the Houston future Auberge hotel. As you can imagine, our son who is g.m. of Lutie's was very excited. He added that they were receiving 30 Michelin people today to stay at the hotel. Austin had 8 hotels make the list. Dallas had 4, while Houston managed 3. Both of the ZA ZAs and Fertitta's Post Oak Hotel. They said in the article that it was disappointing that Houston the 4th largest city had very few boutique hotels.

Houston has never had many truly luxury or boutique hotels. Its sad really. Houston's reputation of getting no tourists, and lack of media presence, is the culprit.
Popular Post Geoff8201
It keeps progressing. More foundation perimeter walls, and I just saw a ceiling starting on the space on the south end. I’m guessing this space will be building equipment areas; transformers, switchgear, mechanical equipment. Piping is being laid, likely for drainage back to a lift station. I’m very curious how the building is going to layout floor by floor, but we will get to see in time. As for hotels in Houston, two Zaza hotels and the Post Oak Hotel have been awarded Michelin Keys. Auberge properties are no stranger to Michelin Keys, so I’m sure once built and operating this will be no exception. https://www.papercitymag.com/culture/michelin-keys-texas-guide-hotels-resorts-dallas-fort-worth-houston-austin/?amp

Popular Post Geoff8201
I got some clarifications on some items which I can share here. I also got the privilege of seeing more renderings and site layouts and hopefully those will get shared with everyone in time, because all of it is beyond impressive. Parcel 1 (Buffalo/Alabama corner) will be the 28-story multi family apartment building. One of the restaurants will be on the first level. Parcel 4 will be the 34-story Auberge Hotel and Birdsall Residences. The bottom 1/3 will be hotel and amenities and the top 1/3 will be the residences. In the renderings, those residences are the ones with balconies, which will potentially be 500sq feet in themselves. Those units will be designed to feel like River Oaks homes. The entire complex will have this feel and will be unlike any other luxury mixed-use we have seen so far. The Auberge will have a public restaurant and bar as well as a private one for hotel guests, residents and members. The residents will have private amenities as well. The entire site will be bisected by Branard Street. (Phase 1 and Phase 2) The renderings we have seen of the Auberge building are from the perspective of being on this future stretch of Branard Street. A traffic light will be added on Buffalo speedway for this new street. Branard will be the main artery to access the hotel. This street will be the only spot with cars. All the rest will be designed to be walkable. Retail Parking will of course be in the underground garages. Residents, guests, & employees of the site will park in above ground garages that will be designed to blend in with the site. The site will have multiple ways in and out along Buffalo and Mercer. The only negative may be Groundbreaking on these other buildings not being next month but rather after the first of the year. 22

Popular Post Geoff8201
This first Retail Garage under the Vitol Building is about to start getting a floor starting at the southeast corner. Looks like they are coming to a close on trenching and underground pipes for garage stormwater drainage. A moisture barrier, concrete pad and now soil is being added for construction of the ramp. Curious as to why they didn’t keep the space under the ramp for more parking or storage or an office for that employee no one likes… but I guess concrete over compacted soil is the most cost effective and structurally secure way?

IntheKnowHouston
The Birdsall is listed on Auberge Resorts Collection's website. I'm unsure when the site was launched. Most, if not all, of the renderings posted over the last two months to the forum are on the website. https://aubergeresorts.com/the-birdsall 5
Geoff8201
Looks like most of the renderings for the Auberge Hotel are out there now. There are a few other renderings they haven’t released yet. Some that comes to mind are the view from the Parcel 2 restaurant looking back towards Parcel 1 and the view of the retail from Buffalo Speedway. I’d like to post a site layout but was previously asked not to share. Will see given the rapid release of renderings if it’s shareable now. The plan shows 6 restaurants and 4 retail so far. One restaurant is in Parcel 2 (currently under construction), 1 in the Auberge, 2 in the luxury rental (P1) and the other two in P4 where the backfill dirt mound is currently sitting. The garage floor is now half covered in plain concrete and rebar is set for the top reinforced pour. They have dugout the northwest corner dirt ramp for construction vehicles to finish the basement walls. Dirt is beginning to get backfilled at the south end. 6
