infinite_jim
Any city CDB where you can walk from one end to the other in less than 20 minutes does not need the hipster abbreviations. So your saying we need the abbreviations?
kylejack
No EaDo, NoDo, NoMo, or anything else.
samagon
NoDo????? LOL! Whats next, MiTo for midtown? How about WestCHA for westchase, MuDi for the Musuem District or RiVi for Rice Village. These hipster abbreviations are so corny and pointless for Houston. Energy Corridor, EnCo. The Woodlands, ThWo. Sugar Land, SuLa. Katy, Katy. Upper Kirby, UpKi. Mission Bend, MiBe. this sounds so awesome, I can't wait. Stopped by Market Square last night after a bike ride with a friend. Started at Franklin Tap (Former Magnolia Brewery) then checked out OKRA. Very nice night and both places were not dead by any means for a Tuesday night. OKRA inside is really beautiful. Please, we prefer if you refer to it as MaSq. Thanks

scarface
LODO Denver means lower downtown Denver. I wondered if they adopted these as a copy cat from Denver. Eado Houston sounds so overdone and plastic. Almost makes me think "Eat donut". I know its corny but its not meant to be funny. It's what i really think.

tigereye
Anyone know what’s up? On another note, revisiting this thread a decade later, Downtown is definitely not dead. From 300 block/Market Square to Disco Green, we’ve come a long way. Edited April 15, 2018 by tigereye
IntheKnowHouston
I do not know how long the Citizens Bank Building at 402 Main has been on the market. A Loopnet listing indicates the downtown Houston property was listed to site June 2022. About the sales listing from Transwestern: The former Citizens Bank Building is a prime redevelopment opportunity for office, residential, or hospitality located on Main Street at Preston in front of the Metro Rail stop. The building can be delivered vacant or with minimal cash flow. Details about the property: 0.11 acres (5,021 st) 48,486 sf building Year Built : 1920 Year Renovated : 2000 Gutted to slab and completely remodeled in 2000. Facade restoration in 2015. https://transwestern.com/property/citizens-bank-building https://s3.amazonaws.com/transwestern-property/Flyers/83c13c91-f261-ed11-9562-000d3a5919f0/402-main-street-flyer-reduced.pdf https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/402-Main-St-Houston-TX/26039632/ https://images1.loopnet.com/d2/Drzm5aWJqNKa8BIKTtX2P_MeaXnOPwwOQBJTk5Pmx10/402 Main Street Flyer Reduced.pdf Edited January 14, 2023 by IntheKnowHouston

I miss the place and am slightly surprised they space has never been leased since MBar closed January 2007. I say “slightly surprised” because the the exuberant rent rate charged at that time led to the closure of MBar and is probably a reason why it’s been vacant since. It would definitely make for a neat boutique hotel but the upper floors were leased office spaces. Not sure if the case today. But even still, the 2 floor lobby would make for a great fancy restaurant/bar concept. Also in the MBar days, the old bank vault was still in the building via an unmarked door behind the basement bar by the bathrooms. If it’s still there it would make a neat space when renovated, similar to the NoMad Hotel in Los Angeles. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoTOa6vAxra/?igshid=MDM4ZDc5MmU=
